Consider what would happen if all the electronically and gas powered gadgets in the area suddently stopped working - computers, the internet, phones, cars, radios, and even battery powered flashlights would not work. Besides talking face to face, you'd have no way of communicating with anyone. What would you think? What would you do? What would happen when darkness fell? How do you think others would react? Why?
Collect your thoughts and respond to the above in a paragraph of 5-7 sentences.
Read as many of the other posts as possible before we begin reading the play.

"Motorcycle Pack" sentence combining activity - march 17
With your partner, look through the different versions the class came up with for the first six sentences of the "Motorcycle Pack" sentence combining activity. Deliberately choose the best from each group to create a short paragraph of the first six sentences from "Motorcycle Pack." Aim for variation in the beginnings of the sentences. Write this as a paragraph, NOT a list of sentences.
Be sure to include the names of all group members in your post.

A Step from Heaven: entering a new culture
In A Step from Heaven, Young Ju and her family move from Korea to California, where they must adjust to a new language and a new culture. Describe what you think it would be like to move to a different country or be forced to enter a new culture. What challenges do you think you might face? While adjusting, what might be difficult or easy for you? How might you feel? You may draw on any personal experiences you might have. Your response should be 6-10 sentences.
